This tropical escape features an accessible 3-bedroom, 3-bath main house and a private 1-bedroom guesthouse with its own bathroom, perfect for families or groups.     Yes, there is a Room Tax/Sales Tax in Curacao. The mandatory tax is 7% of the nightly rate. This amount will appear on your invoice during the booking process.
  • What money is used in Curacao and should I bring cash?
    In Curacao, both the USD and the Caribbean Guilder are used interchangeably. The local currency (Caribbean Guilder - XCG) is pegged to the US Dollar at a fixed rate of 1 USD = 1.77 XCG. Both are accepted across the island and it's always advisable to carry some cash with you. ATMs across the island will dispense both currencies. Credit cards are widely accepted, however, many gas stations prefer cash. Using your credit card shouldn't be an issue at any restaurant or grocery store.
  • Is the sun in Curaçao strong, and do I really need sunscreen?
    While it can be overcast, yes, the sun in Curaçao is intense year-round due to the island’s proximity to the equator. Even on overcast days, UV levels remain high, so sunscreen is essential. Use a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher, reapply every two hours, and opt for reef-safe formulas to protect marine life. Wearing a hat, sunglasses, and light cover-ups during peak hours (10 a.m.–4 p.m.) is also strongly recommended.
  • Is it safe to drink the tap water in Curacao or is bottled water necessary?
    Curacao produces some of the highest quality drinking water in the world, leveraging advanced desalination technology that turns seawater into crystal-clear, potable water. Seawater is drawn and processed through reverse osmosis and evaporation systems, remove salt, impurities, and any other potential contaminants, leaving behind pure, safe drinking water. This process has been in place on the island since the early 20th century, with the first seawater distillery commencing production in 1928. Thus, there's a long history of quality water production in Curacao.
  • Are mosquitoes a problem in Curaçao, and should I bring bug spray?
    Mosquitoes are present in Curaçao, especially after rainfall and around sunset and sunrise. While not typically a major issue, bites can be annoying. It's a good idea to pack insect repellent, preferably one with DEET and apply it in the early morning and evening if you plan to be outdoors.
  • Can I use an eSIM or buy a local mobile plan in Curaçao?
    Yes, Curaçao supports eSIMs and local prepaid SIM cards. The island's major providers - Digicel and Flow, both offer eSIM compatibility and affordable prepaid data plans, ideal for short stays. You can purchase and activate a plan prior to your trip, at the airport upon arrival or at local shops on the island. Coverage is generally strong across the island, and using a local plan often provides better rates than roaming.
