2025 got off to an excellent start with the high season continuing to demonstrate strength. Despite a modest dip in the number of cruise calls, stayover arrivals in January surged 20% vs January 2024 with more than 73K visiting the island, a jump of nearly 12K more than last year.

Curacao’s strategic location outside the hurricane belt contributes to its appeal as a reliable destination for tourists seeking a Caribbean experience without the associated weather risks.
More than 15 carriers now offer direct flights to Curacao, with American carriers showing considerable growth, offering direct routes from major cities including New York City, Newark, Miami, Atlanta, Charlotte and Fort Lauderdale.

Growth in both arrivals and nights stayed was seen across regions with South America logging a particularly healthy 46% jump in arrivals. A near 25% jump in North American visitors propelled the region into second place while Europe rounded out the top 3. The average visitor to the island spent 9 days here.
By country, the Netherlands, unsurprisingly, continues to lead in terms of visitors, welcoming 23,124 in January, however, visitors from the US are closing the gap with 17,708 travelling to the island in January, a jump of 30%.

While Dutch visitors gravitated towards non-resort accommodations (58%), 42% chose to stay at a resort for their average 13 night stay. Americans on the other hand, preferred resort hotels (66%), while 33% opted for other accommodations. Americans, on average, visited for 6.5 nights.

Canada was the 3rd largest market for Curacao this January with >6K visitors flying in, a jump of >10%. Canadians enjoyed the island longer than Americans did, staying on average 10.7 nights, with 51% choosing to stay in hotels.

In total, the island recorded >180K visitors in January demonstrating the effectiveness of the island’s campaign to attract tourists.
