Travel Trends - March 2025 Curaçao’s Tourism Statistics

The remarkable strength we saw in January continued through February with a 16% jump in stayover guests vs February last year. Year to date, stayovers are up more than 18%.

Compared to last February, this year we had 4 fewer cruise ships visit the island, contributing to a 13% decline in cruise visitors.  That said, we are in the midst of a cruise boom with 2 ships on average visiting the island daily for the rest of the month. 30 ships carrying more than 85,000 passengers are expected to visit before the month is out.

More than 15 carriers currently offer direct flights to Curaçao. American Airlines led all carriers in both arrivals and stayovers accounting for 18% of travelers during February. While Delta, fresh off of adding direct routes to the island, saw a whopping 579% increase this February vs last .  All direct flight carriers showed growth with the exception of Corendon who saw a modest 2% decline.

Regionally, travelers from both North and South America increased significantly, with real growth seen across arrivals and nights stayed. All regions showed arrival growth during February with visitors from the Caribbean jumping the most percentage-wise (51%) vs last February. On average, visitors to the island spent  11.4 nights here in February. 52% of travelers stayed in hotels while 48% had alternative accommodations. 



The Netherlands continues to represent the largest visitor nation to the island with 21,782 visiting during the month. Travelers from the US, however, continue to show real interest in the island and are quickly closing the visitor gap. In February, 19,691 US

travelers visited Curaçao, a 25% jump from last year or an additional 8000 visitors.  Americans seem to prefer the comfort and familiarity of resorts with 67% choosing them. On average, U.S. travelers enjoyed the island for 8.4 nights. 


Canadians represent the 3rd largest visitor group with nearly 6,000 visiting in February, a 15% jump from last year.  Canadians visited the island for

longer than their Southern neighbors averaging 12.9 nights. 54% stayed in resort hotels.

The demand for Caribbean getaways continues to rise, with strong and sustained interest. Several factors have contributed to this growth including improved flight connectivity, Curaçao’s safety and stability, strategic marketing efforts, and the island’s diverse attractions. Beyond its stunning beaches and crystal-clear waters, Curaçao offers rich history and vibrant culture, making it an increasingly popular destination.
